This four day intensive class is perfect for students that are looking to push themselves creatively and to develop their wheel thrown pieces beyond simple forms. Students will start by creating pieces on the wheel and then over the course of the week will manipulate the forms learning the ideal consistency for altering successfully. Some of the techniques that will be taught are darting, throwing in two parts (goblets, and extra tall forms), oval casseroles.
Bisque firing is included, glazing and glaze firing are not included and can be completed using open studio time independently for members or non-members can sign up for our Intensive Glaze Day or take home their bisqued pieces.
This class will be running from Tuesday, July 25 to Friday, July 28, 2023 starting at 9:30 a.m. Each day is broken into two segments.
9:30-12:30: Instructor led demonstration, practice and feedback.
12:30-1: BYOL (Lunch)
1-4: Independent Practice/Open Studio Time
Learn in the morning and throw in the afternoon. Members can use their open studio hours to reinforce class learnings. Non-Members have 3 hours of independent practice time offered daily and included in the cost.
To register for this class you should be working at an Intermediate Level. You should be able to centre 4-5 lbs confidently and throw intentionally.
Each session varies from group to group. We are always open to student suggestions and requests for projects. Come with an open mind and give something new a try!
Our classes are intended for adults and youth aged 15+.
Please note that 1, 10kg bag of clay and tools will be provided. Extra clay can be purchased directly from us. We do not provide aprons, please bring one or dress in clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Please note that all materials and tools are included in the price.
