Throw & Alter Marathon: 4 Day Intensive with Collin Jang

DATES: August 5-8, 2025 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.  

This 4-day throwing and altering marathon is designed to push students beyond the basic cylinder and into more expressive, experimental forms. Through repetition, consistency training, and guided alteration techniques, students will learn how to create dynamic thrown forms and transform them into personalized sculptural or functional pieces.

This intensive is suitable for multiple levels, from almost-beginner to intermediate. Students should be able to comfortably centre and throw a 1.5 lb cylinder as tall as it is wide. If you're unsure if your level will be suitable for this class, please reach out to us at the studio and we'll be happy to talk it over with you. 

At the end of this intensive, you can expect to make 3-5 altered pieces in a variety of sizes. Pieces will be bisque fired and ready for pick-up in 3-4 weeks.

• 1 10kg bag of clay of your choice, additional clay can be purchased at LOAM
• Optional open studio time from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. to work on your pieces independently. Non-Members can purchase hours at our open studio rates.
