This six week class is perfect for students that are looking to push their wheel thrown pieces beyond simple forms and also push themselves creatively. Students will start by creating pieces on the wheel and then over the course of six weeks will manipulate the forms learning the ideal consistency for altering your form successfully. Some of the techniques that will be taught are darting, throwing in two parts (goblets, and extra tall forms), combining two thrown items, duck mouth spout, throwing a slab on the wheel to make an oval form.
To register for this class you should be working at a Wheel 2 or Intermediate Level. You should be able to center confidently and throw cylinders that are twice as tall as it is wide.
Your teacher will gauge the groups ability and suggest appropriate projects.
A variety of decorating techniques will be explored and the effective use of multiple glazes. Each session varies from group to group. We are always open to student suggestions and requests for projects. Come with an open mind and give something new a try!
