You’ll get your hands dirty, that’s a promise!
Your creations will be trimmed, glazed & fired for you and ready to be picked up 2-4 weeks after the workshop.

Absolutely. Our Date Nights are designed for beginners and first-time potters. We’ll guide you step-by-step through the process.
Clay can be messy, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Aprons are provided.
Yes — clay is water-based and typically washes out easily in a regular laundry cycle.
Date Night on the Wheel is a process- and skills-based experience. Throwing on the pottery wheel is something that develops over time, and in the beginning it can be quite challenging to make highly intentional forms — that’s all part of learning!
Each person’s pieces will look a little different, and that’s part of the fun. Rather than focusing on making a perfect mug or bowl, we focus on helping you try something new, get your hands in clay, and enjoy the experience together.
We normally promise that you’ll make something that holds something! Most participants create small bowls, tumblers, jewelry dishes, snack bowls, q-tip holders, mise en place dishes, and other little everyday objects. You might be surprised how often you reach for these kinds of handmade pieces at home.
Each participant will have the opportunity to make a minimum of two pieces during Date Night on the Wheel. At the end of the evening, you’ll choose your favourite piece for our team to trim, glaze, and finish in the glaze colour of your choice.
At this time, we only finish one piece per participant as part of the Date Night experience. Unfortunately, we’re not able to offer additional pieces for purchase.
After your workshop, your pieces will be dried, glazed, and fired by our team. This process usually takes approximately 3–4 weeks.
Once your work is ready for pickup, we’ll send you an email notification. Please keep an eye on your junk or spam folder just in case our emails end up there.
If it’s been a few weeks and you haven’t heard from us, feel free to give us a call or send us an email — we truly don’t mind! Occasionally our pickup emails don’t make it through, and we’d much rather help reconnect you with your pottery than have it accidentally left behind.
Yes. We offer private workshops for birthdays, team events, celebrations, and special gatherings. Reach out to us directly at info@loamclaystudio.ca for availability and pricing.
Yes! Each participant will have their own pottery wheel and will create their own pieces during Date Night.
While you’re welcome to help each other, laugh together, and admire each other’s work, this isn’t quite the movie-style “Ghost” experience — wheel throwing works best with one person at the wheel at a time!
Not at all. Friends, siblings, coworkers, parents, and all kinds of creative duos are welcome.
Date Nights are designed for participants 18+.
While we completely understand that many younger makers are creative, mature, and interested in pottery, our shorter wheel formats are not designed as youth learning environments. The pace and structure of these experiences don’t allow us to provide the level of support and instruction younger participants typically need to have a successful experience.
That said, we do occasionally offer kid-friendly and family workshops throughout the year — keep an eye out for those listings!
Our longer-format classes are generally open to participants 15+.
Have questions about our classes or memberships? We’d love to hear from you. Fill out the form and we’ll get back to you.
