Because more really is more.

Instructor: Anne Nicol
Duration: 6 weeks | 2.5 hours per class
Intended Level:Intermediate Handbuilding (we recommend a minimum 3 Handbuilding Mixed-Level class or equivalent).                                                                              Includes: One bag of clay + 6 hours of Open Studio time

In this six-week deep-dive, you’ll build, decorate, and finish sculptural works that tell a story — pieces that are rich in personality, detail, and heart. Guided by Anne Nicol, known for her refined craftsmanship and imaginative approach, you’ll learn how to bring narrative and texture to life through form, surface, and finish.

This course is designed for makers who want to add layers of meaning, colour, and technique to their work. You’ll explore the balance between structure and storytelling as you create highly finished pieces that celebrate craftsmanship and creativity in equal measure.

Anne will share her signature techniques for hard-slab construction, sprig molds, and decorative painting using underglazes in a watercolour style, helping you create depth and realism in your surfaces. Projects will focus on both sculptural scenes — like her beloved “campsite trailers” — and personal pieces that weave your own narrative through clay.
