Where plates aren’t just allowed — they’re celebrated.
There’s something special about crafting a full dinner set: it’s both a technical challenge and a potter’s rite of passage.
Designed for the Table is a deep-dive, 12-week course that takes you through the entire process of creating a functional, cohesive dinnerware collection — from concept sketches to your final fired set.
The first six weeks focus on design and development. You’ll explore the fundamentals of dinnerware design — proportion, form, and function — and learn how to plan a set that not only looks unified but performs beautifully in everyday use. You’ll create templates and demos for each piece in your collection, learning the same planning methods professional potters use when designing for restaurants or commissions. You’ll leave this phase with your final specs — every measurement and detail mapped out for consistency and replication.
The second six weeks shift into production and refinement. You’ll put your plan into motion, producing your set piece by piece while refining your forms, troubleshooting fit and balance, and making thoughtful adjustments. From perfecting rim profiles and stackability to testing glaze combinations that stand up to dishwashers and daily life, this phase turns your concept into a polished, durable reality.
Throughout the course, you’ll be supported by high-level instruction, group feedback, and the time to truly finesse your craft.
