Late-Summer 2025 Handbuilding: Sculpture 1

In this course you will learn how to transform basic shapes and handbuilding methods into imaginative 3D animal forms. We focus on animal forms to learn the fundamentals of ceramic sculpture and build buy first making coils, draping and cutting slabs, and pinching pots, and then refining to sculpt finer details that bring the sculpture to life.
Each student will pick an animal to sculpt and the sculpture project is planned out in the first class with Jess to ensure that it is geared to the student’s experience level. In order for you to get the most out of this class, we recommend having taken a minimum of 2 Handbuilding courses prior to enrolling in Sculpture 1.
Please note that all materials and tools will be provided.
We do not provide aprons so please bring one or dress in clothes you don't mind getting dirty. You may also want to bring a towel for your hands.
The class duration is 2.5 hours. Clean up is included in this time.
Open to all adults and teenagers aged 15 +.
