Geneviève Sauvé

As a mother of two and a federal public servant, I discovered pottery a few years ago as a way to have some time reserved just for me. After a few wheel classes, I was introduced to hand building — which changed everything.
Hand building felt like artistic liberation — I could create just about anything once I had the basic techniques figured out.
My main focus is slab construction, and I work with both soft and stiff slabs. I enjoy taking my time “finessing” pieces and adding surface decoration.
I hope to transmit my love of pottery, the satisfaction of creating something beautiful out of a lump of clay, and the pleasure of pottery-making as mindfulness meditation in action.
