In this 2 hour workshop, you’ll create a hollow ceramic heart vessel using slab construction and simple templates — a form that can live on the wall, rest on a shelf as a sculptural object, or hold a small plant once fired. Each heart features two openings and a discreet hanging point on the back, giving you plenty of ways to let your piece live in your space.
We’ll begin by rolling slabs, cutting, assembling, and refining the form together, with plenty of guidance to help you shape and strengthen your piece along the way. Once the structure is complete, you’ll personalize your heart using coloured slips, ceramic transfers, carving, and hand-painting — or keep things minimal and let the form speak for itself.
The process is approachable and designed to be completed within the workshop time, making this a focused, satisfying session that balances intention, play, and a little bit of magic in the mud.
No prior clay experience is required. All materials are provided, and your finished piece will be fired and glazed by our studio team after the workshop.
