Join ceramic artist and educator Anne Nicol as she shares her technique for handbuilding delicate and botanically detailed flower forms. The 3 week class focuses on the build: how she deftly combines pillow moulds, coils and soft slabs to create realistic floral forms that are then sculpted and refined into highly detailed everlasting blooms.
And further refining and decorating the flowers with sculpted elements and decorative surface additions including slip trailing, extruded coils, and sprigs. Anne will also help you apply underglaze and oxide washes on a bisqued flower to achieve her soft, layered, and realistically-coloured surfaces.
Ideal participant:This workshop is perfect for wheel throwers and handbuilders with some experience who are keen to explore combining techniques to create refined and realistic flower forms. We also welcome more experienced handbuilders who wish to explore fine detail surface decoration under Anne's expert guidance.
